Effective Change for Powerful Learning

in Schools

Contact Seminar

For Comenius 1 projects

ALDEN BIESEN (BE)

January 11 – 15 2006

The treasure within network and the contact seminar

This contact seminar is a spin-off of the Comenius 3 network „The Treasure within" (90721-CP-1-2001-1-BE-COMENIUS-C3), whose thematic area is "Quality in Education". It is supported by National Socrates Agencies across Europe, and run in close cooperation with Landcommanderij Alden Biesen

The focus of this contact seminar as well as of the network itself is the development of the internal expertise and know-how, which is available within schools, in order to improve pupil learning.

The Aim of the contact seminar

The contact seminar "Effective change for powerful learning in schools" does exactly what the title suggests: it invites schools to join forces in European Co-operation Projects, in which they engage in a change effort of their own choice, sharing their experience and expertise, whilst supporting each other on the way. The contact seminar will enable schools to find European partner schools that share the same concern or work in a comparable context.

Outcomes will be mainly three-year Comenius 1 School development projects.

Target Group

Representatives of schools that organise education for (segments of) the 10 to 18 age range. These can include, general secondary, vocational, technical, lower secondary or upper primary schools that are involved or would like to get involved in school improvement processes and who are interested in international co-operation, leading into Comenius projects.

Funding of the contact seminar

The contact seminar will be funded through Comenius preparatory visit grants.

The seminar is open for participants from all European countries that are eligible under SOCATES. For terms of funding please contact your National Socrates Agency.

Dates of the contact seminar

Date: Jan 11th – 15th 2006
